You may encounter an error of “Authorization failed” or "Invalid account" which indicates that some information is incorrect. Here are a few reasons:
- Incorrect Trading account number
- Incorrect Trading account password
- Wrong Trading account server address
How to resolve the issue?
Below we will list the 3 possible issues and the ways to resolve them:
-
Incorrect Trading account number
Ensure the trading password entered is correct. You can find your trading account number in the Personal Area > My Accounts > Accounts Overview and you'll see your account number next to an MT5 or MT4 label, along with a Real or Demo tag. Use this account number to log in. -
Make sure to select the server that your account uses.
You should use the correct server address for your account type. Refer to this article to find the server address specific to your trading account type: What are your live or demo server addresses?Note: An MT4 account cannot be used in MT5, and vice versa. -
Incorrect Password.
You're entering the password incorrectly. The password is case-sensitive and if you copy and paste, you may copy spaces by mistake. It's best to enter the password manually, check that CAPS LOCK is off and that you're entering upper and lower case letters where appropriate. If you checked all details as described above, but still receive the same error message, we advise you to reset the trading account password.
