In this article, we will explore the Profit-Loss indicator for MetaTrader, designed to display your current floating profit or loss. The Profit-Loss indicator shows your current floating profit/loss:
The indicator has a number of features:
- Show the profit/loss either for all trades on the account, or just for trades on the chart's market
- Show profit as cash, pips, or both
- Change indicator position and colours
- Integrates with the Mini Terminal tool – if you run the indicator on a chart which is also running the Mini Terminal, then the indicator provides a close-all option for quickly closing all your open positions in the chart's market

Using the Profit-Loss indicator
Adding the indicator to a chart
You add the indicator to a chart in the usual MT4/5 way, either by dragging it from the Navigator onto a chart, or by double-clicking on it in the Navigator. You can also use standard MT4/5 features such as adding the indicator to your list of Favorites, or assigning a Hotkey to it.
You can then control the indicator's display and behaviour using the settings on its Inputs tab.
Trades included
The indicator can display the profit either just on trades for the chart's market, or on all open trades on the whole account.
Cash/pips
The indicator can display profit/loss either as cash, or as pips, or both.
Position and colours
You can use the indicator's settings to change the colours which are used for displaying profits versus losses, and also the text colour. You can also change the position of the indicator, moving it from the centre of the chart to one of the corners.
Integration with the Mini Terminal
If you run the Profit-Loss indicator on a chart which is also running the Mini Terminal tool, then indicator can integrate with the Mini Terminal and offer a link for quickly closing all your positions in the market.
In the following example, the indicator has a "Close all" link because it is running on the same chart as the Mini Terminal:
